Built prior to 1881, the original Hathaway Mill was 1 mile north of Burford on the west side of the road. Samuel Hathaway stands at the gate by the mill, his wife Rachel stands by the house in a black dress with a white collar. The house has been occupied by the Ruth Haven's family since 1944. The mill burned down, a new mill, somewhat larger was also burned. The Hathaways owned mills in Burford, Wodbury and Paris.
