Kelvin General Store in the 19th century

This Kelvin general store was located on the south side of Kelvin's Main Street. There was also a millinery shop above the store.

This store was later destroyed by fire.

The original Cathcart General Store & Post Office

The Cathcart General Store & Post Office is an old Cathcart store. The original store was operated by J.E. Stephenson, who operated it as a store and post office with his sons Lloyd and Dan. A cold storage locker was located in the back.

The original building (depicted in the photo) was replaced in 1956 by a newer one built by Dan Stephenson, which is still in operation as a post office. Dan passed away in 1960, and his widow operated it before passing it on to their daughter Suzanne Thompson in 1976.

The King's Bakery was a bakery and grocery store located at 123 King St. E, Burford, where the J.P. Harris Jewellers store now stands.

It was destroyed by fire in December, 1952.

The F.A. Miller General Store was owned by Frank Abner Miller, and stood at the southeast corner of King St. and Maple Ave in Burford. It also sold insurance and real estate.

Mount Vernon Corner StoreEdit

The Mount Vernon Corner Store stood at the corner of Highway 53 and Mill St. in Mount Vernon. It was built in 1832, and taken over by the Townsends in 1850, who operated it as the M.W. Townsend store.
